Clogging deteriorates casting operation and product quality. For high quality production at elevated casting speeds, mold level fluctuation is a substantial problem with standard bifurcated SENs. An innovative Whirl SEN has been developed which reduces the mold fluid velocity, penetration depth and mold level fluctuation. Because of the centripetal forces, inclusions cannot stick to the SEN wall and air aspiration is prevented.
