Water Chemistry Considerations for Operation of HRSG Systems - Not Your Father's Boiler

Aspects of HRSG design and operation that are different from those of conventional fired boilers include heat transfer considerations, frequent cycling, various operating pressures and possibly water/steam velocities. Many existing HRSG systems have experienced problems with corrosion product transport and deposition, flow accelerated corrosion (erosion-corrosion) and fatigue failures. Water chemistry can play a role in all of these damage mechanisms.
