A digital camera using a universal serial bus (USB) interface

This paper describes the architecture of a new digital camera that captures both high-quality still images and digital video. The camera is connected to the host computer via a USB interface, which is a new shared peripheral serial bus with a clock rate of 12 Mbits/sec Image data can be downloaded to the host computer at high speed using either burst (asynchronous) or isochronous (guaranteed transfer time) transfer modes. The USB cable can also provide power to the camera.
