Problems of the continuous converting of copper and copper-nickel mattes

Processes of continuous converting of liquid andsolid copper, nickel and copper-nickel mattes were developed bythe Gipronickel institute on the basis of autogenous processemployed in Russian metallurgical practice. The integrated testswere carried out in the Gipronickel Institute and at theSeveronickel combine facilities. The technology of continuousconverting of liquid mattes of different compositions wasdeveloped using stationary top oxygen blast units. Theconverting technology for solid manes was fulfilled in twovariants: using a modernized double zoned Vaniukov's furnace(first zone -converting, second zone - cleaning) and a stationarytop oxygen blast unit.
