NFEM Approaches for Calculating Fishing gear as a System of Flexible Lines

摘要

The purpose of this paper is to describe two different numerical methods for calculating the shape and tension of fishing gear as a system of flexible lines. The paper is divided into two main part, one focusing on modeling net structures in a finite element program, using standard cable or rod elements. The other part dealing with the development of a net-membrane element that includes the governing parameters of a net-membrane element that includes the governing parameters of a net-panel. The paper focuses on the development, possibilities and advantages of using such a net-membrane element in calculation of fishing gear.
