The design of an advanced BFB steam generator for biomass

Current market conditions demand that industrial power plants provide fuel flexibility, efficient power generation, and reduced air emissions. ABB Canada has designed and supplied an innovative bubbling fluid bed (BFB) boiler to burn wood wasteand sludge while providing high pressure steam for power generation and process requirements within a pulp mill. This paper will review the advanced features of the boiler design and discuss the boiler island layout The combustion process and equipmentselection will be explained.
