Fast consumption of ozone in drinking water treatment plants of the ? Syndicat des eaux de L'Ile de France ?

In ozonation units of drinking water treatment plants, ozone is consumed by organic matter with the reaction rate R_i = - Σ ki [O_3]_1 [Si]. From competitive kinetics studies, with phenol and nitrites as references, data on Σ ki [Si] values can be obtained. Initial values show a fast consumption of ozone and the evolution of Σ ki [Si] is studied versus ozone treatment rate.
