In spite of the increased awareness to the dangers of fire, the movement towards more uniform fire codes and tougher enforcement, the residential fire problem in the U.S. continues to be a major source of destruction. Recent estimates for loss due to all types of fires include, 6000 deaths, 150,000 injuries, and $15 Billion in property damage annually. These are staggering numbers by any measure.
