Raytheon Aircraft Montek Company, through Montek IR&D and funded development, completed in November of 1996 a GPS-enhanced ATC/ALS (Air Traffic Control/Advanced Landing System) program which developed a unique,record-setting direct-sequence,reconfigurable matched filter DSP technology via reconfigurable logic for the LPI datalink segment of the ATC/ALS program. The two-way LPI datalink forms the heart of the TDMA communication structure that controls 100 aircraft. The datalink performs aircraft acquisition/synchronization,range determination, data correction, and relays GPS data between control platform and all aircraft for relative All-in-View KCPT (Kinetic Carrier Phase Tracking) Landing solution and position determination. The low-power LPI datalink operates in the S-band and achieves LPI through frequency-hopping (FH) and BPSK direct-sequence (DS) spread-spectrum techniques. The ATC/ALS system was successfully flight tested aboard a Raytheon Beechcraft 1900D,which confirmed the ability of the datalink which confirmed the ability of the datalink to communicate beyond 175nm.
