Influence of iso-propyl alcohol addition on the electrophoretic deposition of SiC from a mixture of acetone and n-butylamine

The influence of addition of iso-propyl alcohol tosuspensions of SiC in a mixture of acetone and n-butylamine onthe stability of the suspensions and the electrophoreticdeposition from these suspensions is investigated. Withincreasing iso-propyl alcohol concentration the electrophoreticmobility of the SiC decreases, until the stability of thesuspensions is lost (>50 vol %). No difference was found,however, in the mechanical properties of the SiC obtained aftersintering deposits obtained from stable as well as unstable suspensions.
