Gass-particle flows in a rectangular duct with backward facing step and an axisymmetric tube with sudden expansion were studied using a phase Doppler particle anemometer (PDPA). The expansion ratio (h1/h2) of 0.5 was arranged for both two cases. The experimental results give transient velocity and particle diameter. The distributions of time-averaged velocities, turbulent kinetic energy and Reynolds normal stress for both gas phase and particle phase were obtained.
