A new algorithm is proposed for calculating sound field in the inhomogeneous ocean waveguide. It does not involve parabolic approximation and for 2D inhomogeneities of the sound speed field can be considered as exact. On the other hand, it is "marching" and can be easily implemented as a computer code. This approach can be generalized and applied to cases of uneven boundaries of the waveguide and media with losses. The effects of currents and density variations can also be incorporated.
