THE ANTARES DETECTOR

The ANTARES Collaboration is building an underwater neutrino telescope in theMediterranean Sea, at a depth of 2500 m, 40 km offshore from Toulon (France). Themain goal of the detector is the search for high energy neutrinos from possible Galacticand extra-Galactic sources as well as from the decay of neutralinos and other exoticparticles. The present status of the detector, with the first two lines in acquisition sinceMar and Sep 2006, is presented.
