Highway Safety Management System - An Integrated GIS-based Approach

GIS based data was used in performing the traffic safety analysis in the City of NOVI. This allowed a comprehensive citywide analysis in a relatively short time. The GIS database allows not only optimal project development, but also impressive project justification. For local communities like NOVI. obtaining federal funds is always a region-wide competition. Having a GIS based system, the City can quickly prepare necessary information, develop project justification, hopefully demonstrate real need and obtain external funding competing with countywide improvement needs.
