Closed-cell polymethacrylimide rigid foam with high strength, high moduli of elasticity and shear is presently not exceed by any other foam plastic of the same gross density. Cost-effective production of sandwich parts by co-curing in autoclaves at temperatures of 175 deg C and pressures up to 0.7 MPa, or in closed molds where the cure pressure is generated by the PMI foam itself, are the main advantages of these products. Very high fatigue strength, goood water absorption properties and excellent electrical values are other determining factors for the use of PMI foam plastics.
