Many studies have been performed regarding the partial discharge (P.D.) phenomena in, or on the surface of certain dielectrics, especially films, printed circuit boards or gases, all of them leading usually to new criteria of electrical circuitsminiaturising. But only few studies are referring to the thin cellulose porous materials, even they have still a wide application as part of many insulating products (e.g. for capacitors, transformers or electrical machines). Taking into account that theP.D.9s occurrence can cause a shorter lifetime of the insulation and reduces the reliability of entire device, an optimum structure of the involved materials is requested, in order to provide the highest values for P.D. inception electric field (normallyas close as possible to the breakdown strength value).
