Modified Alkaline-Hydrogen Peroxide Pulping of Kenaf Bast Fibers

摘要

A pulp of 75%( ZBD) brightness was produced with kenaf bast fibers by employing a one step method combining digestion and bleaching. Pulp yield was claimed as 73% and kappa number was 30. Pulping parameters were reported to be:H_2O_2 7-9%, Na_2CO_3 12%, Na_2SiO_3 5-7%, Na_2C_2O_4 10%,chelating agent 0.3%, temperature 90°C, Liquor ratio 1:10,digestion time 5 hours. For producing quality pulp,pretreatment of the kenaf bast fiber was performed to remove the water-soluble compounds, epidermis and parenchyma.As a result of the pretreatment, less chemicals were required in pulping, pectin content decreased and faster drainage rate of the pulp was observed.
