摘要

EPR and optical absorption spectra of LiF-P_2O_5-MoO_3 glasses reveal the presence of both Mo~(5+) and Mo~(3+) ions. Remarkable changes were observed in the spectra with changes in the preparation temperature. Marked changes in the intensity of the resonance signals were observed when the EPR spectra were recorded in the temperature range 123 K to 303 K. By correlating the EPR and optical absorption data, the molecular orbital bonding coefficients ( β_2, β_1, ε ) were estimated using an appropriate LCAO-MO scheme.
