Concentration distributions of sodium, potassium and barium were measured with the electron microprobe after mterdiffusion in the system of Na_2 O-K_2 O-BaO-SiO_2 at 700 - 1000°C. The effective binary diffusion coefficients were determined for multicomponent diffusion with three kathions, which differ in their charges and mobilities The influence of diffusing cations fluxes direction on the concentration profiles was discovered. Diffusion paths, effects of uphill diffusion and rates of interaction depended on the relations between those factors.
