A low cost and high power factor electronic ballast is presented in this paper. The proposed topology is based on a single power stage, which integrates the power factor corrector (PFC) and the lamp driver stages. The ballast is obtained by integrating the half bridge Boost converter, operating as both rectifier and PFC stage, and the half bridge LC resonant inverter as lamp ballast. The lamp power regulation against line voltage variations is achieved by frequency control. Theoretical analysis and experimental results have been obtained for 26 watts compact fluorescent lamp operating at variable frequency when the input voltage changes from +10% and -15%.
