THE CURRENT ADVANCES AND FUTURE PROSPECTS IN DBS ANTENNAS

During the past 10 years,the service of the Direct Broadcast from a Satellite (DBS) at K.u band (12GHz)has successfully come into commercial use in some developed countries. Thus, this makes the DBS receiving antennas for individual subscribers trend to smaller size,higher performance and lower cost. To satisfy the rapidly increasing demand for DBS antennas,various types of excellent planar antennas were fastly developed in recent years, and great achievements in the research on planar abtennas have been made. It has been predicated that the planar antennas have considerably potential applications on a wide variety of areas. This paper reviews the properties of various planar antennas at Ku band and summer-izes their present status and future trends in the world.
