Ozone generation system start-up and performance testing at the tucson water cap treatment plant

The City of Tucosn; Arizona recently completed construction of a 150 million mgallon per day (mgd) direct filtration water treatment plant. The design of the treatment plant included an ozone system designed to meet the disinfection requirements of the Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR) and to enhance the treatability of the water. One year of pilot testing indicated that an ozone generation system with a design capacity of 4200 pounds per day would meet the necessary disinfection requirments and provide the desired treatability enhancement.
