Transient earthfault detection on petersen coil earthed systems with residually connected CT's

The paper describes the tests undertaken at GE Stafford to verify that the Transient Earth Fault Detection (TEFD) scheme, proposed for use on the trial system, functions correctly for all fault conditions. Further consideration was taken to verify the CT type and size to ensure satisfactory operation of the scheme. The document also describes the TEFD scheme operation in detail and discusses areas where additional protection functions are required to supplement the scheme.
