Status of zinc-bromine battery development at Energy Research Corporation

摘要

The author describes development work on a new generation of battery hardware, with a larger active cell area and improved electrolyte flow characteristics. Key issues such as flow uniformity, zinc deposition quality, shunt current losses, and pumping power requirements were examined in the design of the hardware. Results of design studies and battery tests on the hardware are presented, along with information on the status of older batteries on test with the baseline hardware.
