The authors develop a computational model of eddy-current probes over composite workpieces. This model requires the parallel development of two independent submodels, one for computing electromagnetic interactions with a plane-parallel slab of graphite-epoxy of arbitrary thickness and lay-up order, and the other for computing the induced Amperian currents in the ferrite core when it is in the proximity of the composite slab. The authors emphasize the validation of the computer code based on the submodels and the complete model.
