The purpose of this study is to understand the relative flow pattern in a centrifugal blower impeller by flow visualization. The relative flow patterns in an impeller were visualized using the spark tracing method. The stationary image of flow patterns in a rotating impeller was observed using the rotating image stopping processor, in which a triangular prism rotates at half the angular velocity of an impeller. The flow in an impeller was observed in detail with line, needle and sheet type electrodes. The relative velocity distributions in an impeller were measured from the time lines obtained by the line type electrodes.
