The paper presents the results of studies of 18-pulse transformer-rectifier unit TRU-18(P) for a DC power supply system. This unit is a new design and different from other 18-pulse TRUs. This TRU-18(P) consists of 3 three-phase transformers and 3 three-phase bridge rectifiers. The secondary windings of the first and third transformer are connected in "zigzag" configuration to create a phase shift from the second transformer. The secondary windings of all transformers are designed to provide the formation of voltage systems at the input of the three-phase rectifier bridges with a sequential phase shift by π/9 each other. A new solution for this new design is that all primary windings of transformers are connected in series and each winding has a "star" configuration. The input terminals of the first transformer are connected to the AC power supply network. This new solution improves the output efficiency of TRU in comparison with other 18-pulse TRUs. It also reduces the mass and dimensions of TRU. The input and output signals are determined by computer simulations method taking into account the leakage inductance of transformer windings.
