Nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) is a rapidly developing method for sizing particles from about 20 nm to 2 µm in liquid dispersions. This technique enables the visualization and recording of nanoparticles movement, which is then processed by the tracking software. This work considers performance of two different types of this software, including the NanoSight NTA software by Malvern and an open source NanoTrackJ plugin for an image processing program ImageJ. This study also represents the main advantages and drawbacks of these commonly used NTA software packages in terms of processing of videos with a high noise rate. The comparison results showed close nanoparticle size distribution values by both investigated programs, however the NanoTrackJ is inferior in processing of noisy video recordings.
