Recent improvements in ozoen generating technology have led to small, low weight units (Tiefenbrunner, 1987) applicable in drinking water supply systems with low or medium flow rates; mainly scholls, hotels and other recreastion facilities. The high purificatio npotential inactivating viruses and microorganisms (Fig.1) is maintained automatically by Redox-electrodes measuring the oxidatio npotential in the main storage tank. This prevents even in periods with very low or no water consumption (school holidays or bad weather periods in recreation areas) storage tnak walls and sotred water of serious microbial contamination (Tabl.1).
