MULTIPLEXING AND LINE CODING SCHEMES FOR BROADBAND-ISDN

摘要

The paper presents new transmission and signal processing concepts for Broadband-ISDN with optical fibres. In particular, efficient electrical multiplexing schemes and a new family of NB(N+1)B binary non-alphabetic balanced codes are suggested, having many desirable features, e.g. simple hardware realization. By integrating the multiplexing and line coding functions in one unit, the possibility arises for the physical integration of such a unit in one VLSI chip, thus achieving the ultimate aim of system cost reduction, which is a pre-requisite for the introduction and wide-spread of B-ISDN.
