摘要

We provide an approximate analysis of a polling system used for digital voice communication under packet switching. Each node in the system has a single constant length buffer which is capable of holding a single packet. Buffer contents are lost if they are not transmitted before the next packet arrival. The analysis employs a threestate model to represent a two-party telephone call. We evaluate the distribution of the cycle time as well as the probability of packet loss.
