This paper presents the design criteria,the electrical schemes and the measured performance of the laboratory breadboards of a clock generator and a unique word (UW) detector suitable to provide a stable master clock on board a satellite.The on-board clock generator locks its frequency to the clock of one of the up-link bursts of a TDMA frame,selected as a reference.The comparison between the two clock signals is performed once every TDMA frame,at sampling instants derived by the UW detector.Initial acquisition procedures are discussed.
