摘要

A field experiment of a digital ship earth station system was successfully performed from April to July 1984,using the INMARSAT Indian Ocean satellite (INTELSAT Ⅴsatellite with maritime communication subsystem).This paper outlines the experimental setups and presents the test results.The link parameters of the designed system are also dlscussed based on the obtained data.The test results indicate that the developed dlgital communication system based on rate 1/2 Viterbi decoding for forward error correction and 16-kbit/s Adaptive Predictive Coding for voice transmission can provide a saving of satellite power and/or a reduction in the size of ship-borne antenna,as well as a capability to offer a wide variety of services.
