Constant envelope Partial Response Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) schemes have power spectra with a narrow main-lobe and also low side-lobes, lhese schemes are also power efficient.The optimum receiver (the Viterbi algorithm) is sometimes complex. In this paper a parallel and serial MSK-type of receiver is studied, This receiver can be implemented with only two filters and simple decision ]ogic. It is useful for binary schemes with modulation index h=1/2. We consider coherent detection of signals transmitted over an additive white Gaussian noise channel and also over a Rayleigh fading channel. In this paper the optimum filter for this receiver is derived and the corresponding performance is given. A considerable improvement in performance can be achieved with the optimum receiver filters compared to the ad-hoc filters considered before.
