The accelerated information revolution creates strong forces which effect the individual through the infosphere.The growing and spreading linkage of telecommunications and computing poses major political and social problems, as well as challenges which must be addressed by modern society.Electronic Engineers, the philosophers, developers and operators of these vast and powerful computing and telecommunication systems, must play a major role and participate by facing the added challenges and solving the new problems which modern society encounters due to the permeating infosphere.Electronic Engineers, under these circumstances, have a much broader charter under which to operate and, perhaps more importantly, a much broader social responsibility to discharge.
