OPTICAL FIBER SUBSCRIBER PLANT APPLIED TO TSUKUBA EXPO'85

摘要

It is expected that the application of optical fiber cable to the subscriber network will make it possible to economically provide broadband services, such as video and high-speed data communications. NTT is thus actively promoting technological development in order to firmly establish subscriber optical fiber technology and ensure cost reduction. Along these line, the INS (Information Network System) Model System is now being installed in the Musashino and Mitaka areas in suburban Tokyo. It has, moreover, been decided to commercially introduce subscriber optical fiber cable at Tsukuba Expo '85. This paper describes an outline of the telecomunication systems and subscriber optical fiber cable technologies at Tsukuba'85.
