摘要

The recent French governmental decision to promote on a national scale the development of optical interactive videocommunication networks opens up new viewpoints for a large range of services. The widespread introduction of such videocommunication networks poses serious design problems due in part to the state of the art in optical technologies. The choices to be made will have to take account of the present limitations while at the same time allowing for the foreseeable technological evolution for the years to come. In the papery we propose a set of computer tools which aid the design of the best network (architecture and equipments) and perform economic evaluations of local networks structures. As an illustration, we describe an application of the use of computer tools to study starred videocommunication networks structures.
