Clean Water Everywhere:A Look at Source Water Assessment and Protection across the United States

This paper will present a national overview of source water assessment and protection in several states and an in-depth examination of Source Water Assessment and Protection programs in selected states. The paper will focus primarily on how the programs are implemented and will discuss how the program results are provided to the community. The paper will address both assessment and protection, and will evaluate which states have voluntary versus mandatory protection programs. Based on the state-to-state comparisons, the paper will provide observations regarding effective strategies for implementation of SWAP programs.
