Metamaterials pave an effective way to realize the toroidal dipole resonances, which is difficult to observe in nature. The new toroidal dipole metamaterials were proposed, which consists of two split ring resonators (SRRs) with left and right gaps merging together designed on polyimide substrate. The effect of gap on the electromagnetic characteristics was discussed deeply. The high Q toroidal dipole metamaterials is obtained, which could be broaden the family of terahertz devices.
