With the rapid growth of the scale and types of condition monitoring devices, the reliability problem of monitoring devices is gradually exposed. However, there is a lack of effective evaluation method for the operation analysis of monitoring device. Therefore, in this paper, an evaluation method for the operation state of the on-line monitoring device of gases dissolved in transformer oil is proposed. Firstly, the monitoring devices of different manufacturers are tested in the laboratory to study their performance. The results showed that accuracy and repeatability are good indicators to reflect the function of the device. Secondly, the operation data of monitoring devices are analyzed in terms of defect rate, on-line rate, and effective alarm rate. Based on the test results and operation features, an evaluation model for the dissolved gas monitoring device is established. The proposed model is verified with the actual data of a certain area. The results show that the evaluation method established in this paper can effectively reflect the reliability of the dissolved gas monitoring devices. This paper can provide an effective reference for the selection of monitoring devices.
