With increase in energy demand, distributed generation is an increasingly viable and usable option; and is now a reality around the world. The main focus in this type of power generation is the photovoltaic system. For this reason, techniques for improving the efficiency of solar power plants are being highly researched by academia. Firstly, this article shows how to extract more power from the photovoltaic power plant and incorporate it with the DC-DC boost converter. Secondly, an approach is proposed to improve the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. Thirdly, the comparative studies were depicted to obtain the outcomes from the simulation analysis. The simulation outcomes depict that the presented PSO algorithm based MPPT controller which provides enhanced efficiency and robust control over the conventional techniques.
