Aluar Aluminio Argentino has been operating with two closedtype furnaces for the production of baked anodes for more than 35years. Due to the continuous expansion by amperage increase inthe potlines, these furnaces were replaced by two new open typebaking furnaces, Due to present anode requirements only one wasstarted. As a result, the existing Fume Treatment Plant had to beupgraded to cope with higher volume and temperaturerequirements.This paper explains the most economical solution for an FTCconcept upgrade, which integrates major existing components butin parallel enhances the plant with new equipment and processtechnologies to attain the targets. Finally it outlines the actualresults achieved by presenting key performance figures, includingemission levels.
