Performance evaluation of display media, color, pattern, andmovement in passive type of cognitive process

A man-machine system forces a person to concurrent work, forexample a control and an observation, occasionally plural controls andobservations. Processes to recognize information also are included inthis work. The cognitive processes are not necessarily executed in asimple form. Each process sometimes has a different form respectivelywhich is a passive or active type. In the passive type of process, asthe recognition is driven by data, the performance of recognizinginformation greatly depends on the characteristics of display media. Inthis paper, the performance of three display media: color; pattern; andmovement, are examined in the passive type of cognitive process. Theother works that are concurrent with the cognitive processes areclassified into three levels: skill; rule; and knowledge. Theperformance of display media also depends on the levels; the authorsdiscuss a relation among them
