The paper shows that interbar currents do exist in double-cageinduction motors. This has been shown theoretically and by measurement. An expression has been derived to describe the distribution of interbarcurrents in the double-cage rotor. Although the motor tested was notideal for the measurements performed, it still provided validexperimental results. This work also showed that the determination ofthe contact resistances between bars is the most difficult parameter todetermine in the calculation of interbar currents. In most modernmotors, however, there is good contact between the bars and thesurrounding core and reasonable assumptions can be made about thecontact resistances
