The Wind-Flex project has developed a wireless indoor high bitrate OFDM modem, operating at 17 GHz. This modem is a packet-radio basedsystem with a highly dynamic bit-rate range between 64 Kbit/s and 100Mbit/s. Simulations for implementation have been done to evaluate theperformance of the Wind-Flex modem using a concatenated coding scheme incombination with a TDMA-based block repetition mechanism. A simpleARQ-like delay reduction procedure is also presented. We show thatTDMA-based repetition can significantly enhance the performance of thepacket-oriented concatenated codec by trading off data rate forrobustness. This does not lead to increased complexity in the modemimplementation
