Current developments in intelligent measurement systems demandthat the instruments should be designed to provide measurement signal ofhigh quality. This implies that initial emphasis should be placed onensuring the integrity of the measurement system. This also means that,in addition to the measurand signal, a measurement system should providean indication of its operational status, as well as that of theassociated plant. The condition signals are necessary to validate themeasurand signal when there is suspicion of malfunction or faultconditions within the plant. This paper is a continuation of the IMTC93paper (May 1993). Here additional results of studies carried out onpressure and differential pressure measurement systems are presented.The focus is on the analysis of the noise in the conventional outputsignals from commercially available pressure and differential pressuremeasurement systems to detect blockages in the process connections
