Electromagnetically produced stress of induction motors understeady state operation, has been minimized using well established designtechniques. However, due to the nonsinusoidal voltages supplied bystatic inverters, the mechanical vibration level is increased and thepossibility of failure should be carefully considered. To analyze theseproblems, the measured three phase current waveform is used forcalculating the forces causing the main dynamic disturbances. Airgapeccentricity and saturation levels are both included in a computer baseddiagnostic analysis system. The vibration spectrum is obtained andrelated with the harmonic currents; also, a classification ofelectromagnetic forces using the stress space distribution is carriedout. The study reports that the harmonic current from static inverterscan produce high stator frame vibration and the degree of severity ofthis phenomena is related with motor airgap eccentricity, the saturationlevel and the electrical rotor unbalance
