A valid method applied to area calculation in wheat productionestimation

Area calculation is one of the most important aspects of wheatproduction estimation. The conventional methods of area calculation havesome defects in information representation which affect classificationaccuracy. In order to deal with the question, the authors apply theconcepts of fuzzy mathematics to the field of area calculation, use thefuzzy information representation method to represent remote sensinginformation. Experiments show that the represention method is valid. Aset of valid area calculation methods is presented and the method isused to calculate the wheat area in a Landsat TM image of Huang, Huai,Hai district, China
