An analysis of the transients injected into the power mains byinductive-load disconnections

A theoretical and experimental analysis of the transients injectedinto power mains by inductive load disconnections is presented. Thetheoretical analysis is based on highly simplified equivalent circuitsincluding actual components, parasitic elements, and equivalentlow-frequency and high-frequency representations of the power-main line.A three-wire line (phase, neutral, and safety ground) is considered,permitting the analysis of differential- and common-mode aspects of thephenomena.
