The authors present data from the continued evaluation ofsimulated insertion (SI) test fixtures manufactured and finished by thesame shop. Also included are data demonstrating differences in SI forcelevels when evaluating the effect of different slot liner materials. Onthe basis of the test results, it is concluded that no significantdifference in SI test results would be found when testing using the samewire sample and SI test fixtures of identical dimensions and surfacefinish. It is demonstrated that this test measures the combined effectthat the characteristics of a magnet wire have on insertion forces. Itis also found that most slot liner materials cause higher simulatedinsertion values than those measured with a polished steel surface.Furthermore, the specific simulated insertion force is directly relatedto the type of slot liner material
